In 1867, Austria retaliated by modifying its constitutional framework as to give Hungary equal partnership. This came to be called the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary. Both countries, Canada and Austria, achieved Confederation in the same year: 1867. And even though their motives and implementations were different, this remains a remarkable coincidence.
