Crime and Punishment

Often times a persons actions do not reflect their true feelings and thoughts. This is seen throughout the novel Crime and Punishment, by Fydor Dostoyevsky. There are many times when Raskolnikov’s inner life contradicts that of his external life. Dostoyevsky wrote the book in this style so that he could effectively show the punishment that someone suffers after commiting a serious crime, no matter if they were caught or not. This style of writing also allows Dostoyevsky to give more insight into Raskolnikov’s personality then if it were written from just one point of view.
