…that point onward. Civilians also begin to awaken to the full harsh, grim reality of nuclear warfare. Cries for disarmament and arms controlling begin to overshadow the arms racers. Despite this protest the battle of ego between the superpowers would press on, even grow in the years following the crisis. But at no time in the duration of the Cold War was the entire world in more peril, then those thirteen days in October of 1962.
