Nobody believes in the American Dream more than Willy Loman, but the dream has somehow eluded him. …Willy Loman was hard working. He put in effort. He had everything that was needed to live the American Dream. Evidently, the play proves that the American Dream doesn’t just come to everyone who puts hard work and effort in. Death of a Salesman undermines the dream a lot, using the idea that Willy Loman wanted the American Dream; he put in his hard work, and effort, yet he had driven himself to suicide.
