The two great thinkers Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud wrote extensively on the individual. As part of that writing, both spoke of how civilization affects and shapes everyone. …but from that point on their perspective is very different. Freud's perspective is that as people band together those that are stronger are limited. Marx' view is that only the powerful band together, and that they must be disbanded, so that those that are not in power, can take power. Freud's view of people is positive, Marx' negative. Time on this issue has proven the validity of Freud's view and has proven Marx view bankrupt.
