The newly elected president made numerous contributions to his time, such as putting an end to the Korean War, desegregating public schools, creating the International Atomic Agency, and signing Alaska and Hawaii into the Union. John F. Kennedy succeeded Eisenhower after he left the presidency. He died of heart problems in 1964. Although he’s no longer living among us today, Dwight Eisenhower will still be one of our nation’s most triumphant heroes.
