Educated or Ignorant? What, or who, is an educated person? The possible answers to this question are boundless because, like beauty, education is in the eye of the beholder. For example, someone whose family never completed their secondary education might consider herself educated at that point. However, in my opinion, an educated person is someone who has an adequate knowledge of her history, culture, and society, has the ability to clearly express her thoughts and …

…that should first be acquired if one wishes to be educated. These characteristics are important because every educated person should know who and what she is and where she comes from. She should also know how to pass on her knowledge to the people that will still be here when she is long gone. Perhaps the most important trait of all is humility. That is, she must realize that she just can’t know everything.
