Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was a very important woman in our history. She overcame her problems with her husband to help end the Great Depression. She not only worked against the depression but she was a pioneer in the fight for women’s rights. She also helped people by writing her daily column “My Day” which touched many peoples lives. Eleanor Roosevelt was born in 1884 into a wealthy New York family. Eleanor’s mother was disappointed because
political relationship stronger but after, Franklin’s affair with Lucy Mercer their personal relationship was scarred.” (The American Experience) To make up for her emotional scarring Eleanor became friends with “a group of individualistic, assertive women who traveled in various political and reform circles” ( The American Experience.) In 1933 during the depression Franklin Roosevelt was sworn into office, and this began Eleanor’s new life. Which led up to the great events she is known for.
