…future. For the time being, the mission is a success. From emptiness their emerges fullness. The moose meat fills their stomachs. Nanapush, once more filled with strength and assurance, feels himself “grow solid in the chair” (p.105). Most importantly, the hunt fills the two with unity and pride. Nanapush is finally willing to accept Eli not only as kin but as a son, the one who will follow him and lead the tribe to success.
