Fraternal Feeling rising throu
Fraternal Feeling rising through the Darkness William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying is dark, gruesome, and somewhat comedic portrayal of a southern family who has to travel across the countryside to bury their dead mother. Faulkner uses each character’s point of view in different chapters to tell the story. In doing so, Faulkner gives us an insight on who each character is as well as showing us how the world that we live
himself to the bone every night for months, trades away his horse, so that the family can complete their journey. And Darl, who dislikes Jewel more than anyone in the family, sees through the hatred and remembers that Jewel is his brother, and saves his life. These are a few examples of how throughout the novel, the actions of the characters, through the harsh reality that the book places them in, are able to triumph.
