Frederick Winslow Taylor

Taylor wrote about the inefficiencies in the management of unskilled workers, focusing on the steel industry in particular. He systematically identified the problems, which caused these inefficiencies to exist and then went about proposing a solution to make these operations run more efficiently. …more profitable. Taylor’s system significantly reduces the freedom of the workers since they were now under constant supervision and had strict methods to adhere to. Though they may not be the most worker friendly process, scientific management from an economic standpoint can not be beat simply because it enables productivity levels unheard of in the old system. That combined with the capitalistic nature of the United States made scientific management a success in America.
