Fried Green Tomatoes

In its review of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café the Houston Chronicle called the novel “Funny, courageous, and wise . . . a sly evocation of the Depression South.” Throughout the novel there are great examples of these characteristics. …helped Evelyn. Sly evocation-The book provided us with information about the depression through subtle hints about what was going on. Through characters like Railroad Bill and Smokey Lonesome we learned about the hardships going on at the time. We were not force feed about what was going on only hinted.
