Future government?

In the book “The Giver” it talks about government control and suppression of its people. This, I feel, is a warning of what can happen if we do not remain active in our government through voting, holding of office, and many other choices that we are given. …personal lives. When we begin to cross these lines, that is when our basic freedoms are in jeopardy. Just like when the British began taxing us unjustly. The revolution began to end this injustice and give us back our basic rights. If we were to sit back and let this happen our society could, and most likely would, become one such as in The Giver. But this is just what I took from “The Giver”.
