Popular rap music has contributed to perpetuating sexism among young people by desensitizing its fans to the rise of sexism through repeated verbal and visual abuse towards women, making sexism a universal theme in today’s rap music. …

…place women a step below themselves in the societal ladder. This may be due to the fact that most of today’s rappers are ugly. By placing attractive women under their command, these rappers may be selfishly gaining self-confidence at the expense of the greater society. The fault, however, does not entirely lie on the rappers or the society as a whole. Women willingly participate with these rappers, as if they were promoting sexism themselves.
