Grapes of Wrath

The novel, The Grapes of Wrath, was written by John Steinbeck. The story begins in Oklahoma on a dusty, dried-up farm during the 1930s. The Great Depression was in full swing, and many people were extremely poor. Because of a bad crop year, many farmers are being forced to give up their homes to large, wealthy banks. …of the poor, oblivious working class in the 30’s. They worked so hard only to be cheated by those who had more than enough. This book made me realize that not all of the United States was prosperous. There were those who struggled for survival and many that died because of the wealthy, unmerciful people.
