Hamlet

In many works of literature a character gives a statement that relates to another characters condition. In the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, the ghost gives Hamlet a statement that relates to Hamlets condition. “ Let not the royal bed of Denmark be a couch for luxury and damned incest.” This statement of advice causes Hamlet to believe that Claudius was the reason for his father’s death more than he did before. …killed his father. The ghost is a symbol that tells Hamlet to not be fooled by Claudius and to be aware that Claudius is committing incest in the royal bed of Denmark. Hamlet is already aware of the fact that Claudius did not mourn the death of his father and instead, insulted him by marrying his wife Gertrude just to become king. Shakespeare uses the ghost’s statement effectively to portray the wickedness of Claudius.
