One critic also made the argument that Gertrude loved the sexual aspect of the relationship and that is why she is with him. “Gertrude is a very sexual being” (Shakespeare-online.com). By saying this the critic is hinting that she was in love with the sex that Claudius could give not just Claudius himself. Once more Shakespeare demonstrates just how twisted love can really be.
