…everything he is capable of doing in trying to not hurt his mother so he can fulfill and avenge his father’s death. One thing that they both had in common was their enduring love for Ophelia, which is shown in her burial scene. (Act 5, Scene 1) Gertrude and Hamlet are very much alike. The Queen was a major character in the play, and her presence and opinions altered the events and outcomes in the play.
