Hamlet-All That Madness
One way to define madness is to say that madness is “a mental incapacity caused by an unmentionable injury.” These injuries are not easy to see, but can appear in a time of stress. For instance, Hamlet has been in a state of mourning since his father died. Later he started acting crazy after he saw the ghost. Laertes was propelled into an angered state of madness after the death of his father. Ophelia had
had the capability of controlling himself and acting sane. Laertes was influenced very much by others and had no was to control his rage towards Hamlet. Ophelia was the most innocent victim. She was controlled by everyone else’s actions and because of her powerlessness she disintegrated mentally. As a result of enduring the “unmentionable injuries” of the events in Hamlet the characters lives could never be the same again. (PTSD) {(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)}
