Hellenistic Epicureanism
Hellenistic Epicureanism One of the fundamental beliefs of Epicurus is that death is something that is not to be worried about. This, along with three other main beliefs, is the key to finding individual happiness according to Epicurus. Epicurus believes that death is merely the end of existence. It is nothing to be concerned about because it is simply the end of sensory experiences. Once dead, a person is no longer aware of his surroundings,
that plague their lives. Like Epicurus says, it is chosen as a relief from the trouble that is one’s life. Death is a topic that not many like to speak of. Some fear that speaking of it will bring some sort of bad luck, while others do not like to deal with the emotional implications of death. Epicurus, on the other hand, felt that death is nothing more than the end of sensory experience.
