Hills Like White Elephants
Ernest Hemingway was one of the most famous and influential writers of the 1900’s. Born in 1899 and died the way his Father died Ernest took his own life. Just like the book stated Hemingway was referred to his style as “the heart of subtraction,” the taking out of unnecessary elements. I think that’s what he did in in the short story “Hills like White Elephants." The story takes place at a train station in
people that had committed suicide and afterwards they were happy because what ever problems they had before were over. In conclusion it could be either one because Hemingway really didn’t give us all the information on what was making them unhappy, what was the thing that people had done before and afterwards made them happy again. Also the main question for me was what was the implication on the hills looking like white elephants.
