Hiroshima
In the early 1980’s, John Hershey went back to Japan to find the survivors whose story he had told in the book Hiroshima. They had become a part of his life and a conclusion had to written to their stories with the passing of time. These conclusions were written as chapter five of Hiroshima. One of the survivors was Hatusuyo Nakamura, a tailor’s widow with three children; Toshio, Yaeko, and Myeko. On August 5, 1945 the
lives. Not everyone was as lucky. Today the effects of what happened in Hiroshima still holds a significant value in our lives. Hiroshima was the first we learned about the side effects of the A-bomb. Although dropping the bomb was our only option, the only was to prevent future incidents is to keep it alive in our memory and pass that memory on to future generations for years to come. Hiroshima will never be forgotten.
