I, Too
I picked a poem that I think really like, and it has a great message to it as well. “I, Too” is about the racism blacks faced earlier in America’s history. White people back then believed that blacks were inferior to whites. So because of this black it was very segregated, and black people had very right and privileges. This poem is rather simplistic, but with great meaning. The first stanza is one sentence
what he is preparing for now by just accepting eating in the kitchen and getting stronger. The fourth stanza is “besides,/ they’ll see how beautiful I am/ and be ashamed-“. So he is now saying that he does know that it is inevitable that white people will someday see that black can hold their own basically. Then he ends with “I, too, am America” expressing that he is part of this country as well.
