I am Youthful. I am Ignorant
I am Youthful, I am Ignorant “While I lived the life of youth in ignorance and hope.” Youth, ignorance and innocence are three parallel ideas. Without one the others cannot exist, therefore when ignorance is lost, so is youth and innocence. The ideas in the story “Youth”, written by Joseph Conrad, discuss one man’s journey’s through life who throughout his journey discovers more and more about himself. His actions in the story show
can only come from an innocent, ignorant state of mind. Youth is ignorance, but ignorance corresponds with innocence in the sense that they both come from inexperience. Therefore, when one is lost so is its parallel. Conrad best describes youth when Marlow says “Youth and the sea, Glamour and the sea...” All of Marlow’s actions throughout the story may show inexperience, but he lives an exciting life that some people may only dream of.
