Is Gatsby great? Why?

Gatsby is not as great as he seems! In many ways Gatsby is great but if you look into his life he is more superficial than great. In the book all the characters have different feelings about Gatsby. …course I’ll say I was…’ (Pg. 150) As shown above Gatsby may be great to some people, but his real life is much more superficial. Although he has a big house and lots of money it only makes him physically great and his real life hidden away. Yes his parties and his fortune were great, but the way he got his fortune to have the parties was illegal and did not add to his greatness.
