Italian Nationalism Nationalism is the love of one’s country rather than the love of one’s native region and the belief that one’s country is superior to that of anyone else’s. Italian nationalism became a strong force in the early 1800s when writers and thinkers became intent on reviving interest in Italy’s traditions.
