(To make sure of this, he is blind and she is now rich) Charlotte has used other characters to change to change our view of Jane, and through her, other individuals in the real world like her. Similarly, other characters in the novel, especially 'bad' ones, are meant to change our view of people like them. This it successfully does, I can bear witness to the fact.
