John Adams
SUMMARY The only president who was a son of a president was John Quincy Adams. John Quincy Adams was the sixth president of the United States from 1825 to 1829. John Quincy Adams was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on July 11, 1767 to John and Abigail Adams. He was involved in politics since he was 12 years old. At the age of 12 he was with his father in Europe. While in Europe John was a French translator for Francis Dana,
he was the only president who was a son of a president and the only president not to be elected by electoral votes but was elected by the House. John Quincy is known in American History because of the way he was involved in the Jays Treaty, Treaty of Ghent, Monroe Doctrine and the abolishment of the “gag rule.” This is why I think John Quincy Adams is a very important person to American History.
