Their god, Yahweh, is all-powerful, all knowing, and all seeing, responsible for both all good and evil in the world and the creator of all that exists. The Jewish people believed that through their suffering, freedom and justice could spread to all humankind. The Jewish people have been affirmed in their belief that they are in deed the “chosen people” because only through intervention from God could they have survived as a people and reestablished the nation of Israel against overwhelming odds.
