John Hammond has discovered a way of recreating the dinosaurs. Using the blood extracted from mosquitoes trapped in amber from the Jurassic Era, he uses the DNA to bring the dinosaurs back to life. …and famous. When Hammond realizes that his creation has gotten out of hand, he doesn’t hesitate to abandon his dream in the interest of public safety. The differences between the two versions of Hammond are a result of Spielberg’s intent to portray a positive family message. Spielberg tries to make the island seem innocent. He tries to make Hammond that loveable grandpa figure in order to be more appealing to all age groups.
