King Lear

In the play King Lear, Lear is the king of Britain and rules with great pride. The beginning of the play starts with King Lear deciding to step down from the throne and divide his kingdom among his daughters. He challenges each of his daughters, Goneril, Regan and Cordelia, to show their love for him in words and whoever is the most appealing will receive the larger portion of the estate. …Fool’s wellbeing and his change becomes obvious. In the last couple of scenes Lear comes to an understanding and is reunited with Cordelia. He says, “I am a very foolish fond old man.” (Line 61, 4.7) Lear has now realized that his mistakes and he can let his mind be at ease. The doctor tells Cordelia that his rage is now gone and he can let his troubles go. Lear is finally free from his pain.
