…it is difficult to create an atmosphere that could foster friendships. In closing, the friendships in King Lear worked because they were true friendships. Those that did not work were never real friendships to begin with. Relationships are an extremely complicated subject as we can see from this play. In real life there may not be as many tragedies, but King Lear does somehow make us think about how mean and cruel people can be.
