Without society's rigid rules, anarchy and savagery can come to light. In William Golding’s book Lord Of The Flies, it is shown that humans can be civilized for only so long when we are detached form civilization. The fear of the unknown can be a powerful force, which can turn you to savagery. The boys in this book went from very civilized people to beasts.
