Lord of the Flies and My Kinsman, Major Molineux

In both Lord of the Flies and “My Kinsman, Major Molineux” the storylines consists of innocent children taken away from the society that raised them and placed in a state with no civilized authority. The children fail miserably even though their backgrounds should have provided a better defense against the instinctual desires of all mankind. …proper way to live. In both stories they have the same result: failure. They were thrust into predicaments where they had in their ability to do whatever they wanted with no constraints. The only thing inhibiting them was the moral constraints placed upon them by their past authorities, but these authorities were now absent. It’s the sinful nature branded on our souls not circumstances that holds us back from becoming our best as men.
