…Golding shows that the conch signifies communication, an orderly, civilized community of regulations and power. The conch holds within it a certain magical charm. It’s a talisman that whenever it’s in your possession you have what it holds. It can be from anything from the right to speak to the leadership of an entire society. No matter which it holds many tremendous qualities. Even when it was feared, destroyed, and then gone forever.
