Malnutrition in India As of the year 2000, 40% of children in India suffer from malnutrition. In some parts of India such as Madhya Pradesh, as many as 55% of children suffer from being under nourished. Despite being the world’s leader in milk production, India has not been able to get its problem with nutrition under control. India accounts for a little less than 20 per cent of the world's child population but 40 per cent of malnourished children …

…nutrition, targeting the food supplements at the most needy and improving the education and status of women will have a greater impact. India will soon over take China in being the most populated nation in the world, and if it is going to compete for status, the India government as well as the people of the world need to do their part to assure that the future of India, the children, are taken care of.
