Manatees One of the most endangered marine mammals in the United States is the Florida manatee. The manatees Latin name is Trichechus Manatus and under the class Mammalia and order Sirenia. All living manatees can be found in warm tropical and subtropical waters, usually of the coast of Florida, South America, West Africa, and throughout the Caribbean. And they’re a common knowledge precaution to take such as, Drive motor boats at designated speeds, Be cautioning while fishing and netting, and don’t feed the animals in their natural habitat.
