Moore’s Fab Five The poet Marianne Moore wrote many fantastic poems during her life. The five most intriguing and interesting poems that I enjoyed will be broken down and explanations as to why they caught my attention will be given. The five poems are The Student, The Monkeys, The Sycamore, The Wood-Weasel, and To a Chameleon. The over riding theme in most of her poems is animals. In To a Chameleon she focuses her
as an animal, it is something everybody has seen before and can relate to the emotions portrayed. This is just one of the many techniques Marianne Moore uses that intrigues me. The five poems I selected were concerning simple topics and were simple poems. Yet, Moore used this to her advantage. She painted a picture of these animals through the simple, very descriptive language. It is for that reason that I enjoyed Moore’s poetry.
