Metamorphoses by Ovid
In Ovid’s Metamorphoses he talks about the theme of transformation and change in all of his stories which he acquired from the Greek and Roman mythology. The two stories that most resemble transformation is the story of “Callisto” and “Semele and The Birth of Bacchus.” In both these stories Ovid shows how Juno, a jealous goddess, transforms two young women for having cheated with her husband, Jove. Ovid writes vividly on how Jove continually
and mad at the fact that her husband is always running away doing his thing with other women that she transforms them or they die. Juno wants the other women to know that if she finds her husband cheating on her with another woman she would make their lives terrible by transforming them. She wants to be known as a powerful goddess by making the women into animals where they are less than human beings.
