Michigan House Bill 4293: Not Beneficial to Girl's Athletics
House Bill No. 4293 was brought to the House of Representatives on February 20, 2001 by Representatives Kolb, Hansen, Woodward, Dennis, Gieleghem, Zelenko, Murphy, Lipsey, Waters, Bogardus, Jacobs and Anderson. What House Bill No. 4293 basically says is that if a high school has both a boys’ and a girls’ athletic team in the same sport the seasons should be held at the same time. Part of the argument for this bill was on the basis that the female
athletic scholarships, it allows some young women to further their education when otherwise they may not have been able to; so this bill not only effects high school athletics, but it has an indirect impact on the state of Michigan as a whole. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ **Bibliography** Girls Win! page 2. http://www.girlswin.org/page2.html Girls Win! page 5. http://www.girlswin.org/page5.html Seasons Survey Results Announced. 14 September 1998. http://www.mhsaa.com/news/survey.html
