…on his case in Arizona State Court. In this second trial, on February 15, 1967, four years after the crime, Ernesto’s confession would be excluded from evidence. John Flynn once again represented Miranda. One of the key witnesses was Twila Hoffman, the girl that Ernesto was living with at the time of the murder. The jury convicted Miranda on the strength of Hoffman’s testimony. Ernesto Miranda was sentenced to twenty to thirty years in prison.
