Motivation to Live During the course of Kamala Markandaya's book Nectar in a Sieve many people lose hope and die of hunger or other various unpleasant deaths. …her role. In the book Rukmani has to keep hope with the help of a natural drive, knowledge of God, and the help of friends and family. If she had not had these things to support her, Rukmani might have quit before it was her time to die. However, she kept he spirits alive and even though she had an uncertain future she was happy when she got home at the end of the book.
