MUMMMIFICATION In Egypt once you had died you were mummified so your body would not decay as you went on to the after life. When the Egyptians first started to make mummies they were put in a sleeping position lying on their side with their knees tucked into their stomach. The brain was not considered to be the center of the body so they used chisels to open the skull; Chopped up the brain with hooks and scooped the rest out with spoons. Once finished they stuffed the body, closed the eyes or put in fake ones, wrapped it up and then gave the organs to the family in jars for the burial.
