The first major problem I found in the book came from its title, the Hidden World of Islamic Women. In her book Geraldine Brooks discusses the trials and tribulations of several Islamic women in
fact, Islam exist outside of the Middle East. If Mrs. Brooks would have even bothered to do even a little bit of research, she would have realized that the majority of Muslims live in countries where they are exposed to western secularism everyday. The author stated in the prologue that her quest was to understand why her co-worker had chosen the veil. I feel her quest has left her more confused than when she started.
