Not Really Talking

The way we talk to one another effects our relationships with people. It can create problems or solve them. The tone of voice we use, the way we express ourselves, what we say and what we mean all contribute to a conversation. “In Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway the main characters’ relationship is dwindling due to the surface conversations they have with one another. …They are not being straight with each other. They are talking on the surface, but what they are really saying to one another is below that surface. Instead of listening to what is being said maybe they should look at what is not being expressed. Their relationship will never flourish and grow if this continues to happen and if their true feelings are not vocalized. Whatever they decide, the decision will hurt one of them.
