Ode

There is a little part of all of us that is lost when we grew up and out of our innate innocence. As we grow older, we realize that something has been lost that we never even realized was there. “Ode (Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood)” by William Wordsworth displays Wordsworth’s bitter contempt for having lost childhood, and eventual acceptance of his fate. He manages to use images that provoke the imagination and memory, so it is easy for us to become encompassed in the work. All of us can relate in one way or another to the loss of our childhood, and the beauty of nature. Now, through this work of Wordsworth, we can relate the two together.
