However the gods took advantage of his flaws and made them worse than the appeared to be, demonstrated by his harsh punishment, which is worse than he deserved. For the crime of killing his father, and marrying his mother, blind from the truth, he is punished far too greatly, the gods removing his vision and banishing him from the city he ruled with greatness.
