Oedipus vs Antigone

When reading both Oedipus The King and Antigone by Sophocles, it is almost impossible not to immediately compare and contrast the leading characters, Oedipus and Antigone. The two stories provide ample opportunity for the mind to begin making comparisons of the characters' ignorance to reality, selfish pride, and self-inflicted demise. …speaking, being that Antigone is the daughter of Oedipus. The relationships between the characters and their people seemed to be one of the only things that the two were not alike in. Through comparing and contrasting these two characters, a reader can take away the newfound knowledge that selfish pride and ignorance can bring forth an unfortunate ending. Leading an altruistic lifestyle could not only be more notable, but most likely yield a better result.
