On Moral Relativism
Schopenhauer says morality is not discovered but created. And who creates them? Relativism has always bargained the standards of distinguishing right from wrong. Lest you think I agree that morality is absolute, contrariwise, I believe there exist multiculturalism, hence, moral pluralism that rewards one’s conscience to choose matters to resist or tolerate. But I prefer otherwise. The ‘interest principle’ delineates what is punishable and what is not. While some feminists in the US think
as Socrates taught, the ability to distinguish between right and wrong lies in people’s reason [which is eternal and immutable] and not in society. But conflict of interests rubs that reason from us that we deny our knowing of good and refuse what ought to be done. Morality is not fiction on which we draw our own context, rather, it writes a culture that lives ought to be identified to and seek security from.
