The book "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest" is about a man, Randle Patrick McMurphy, who is committed into a mental ward in Oregon after faking insanity to get, out of a work camp. Once committed McMurphy challenges the authority of a nurse named Ms. Ratched. Throughout the story the insubordinate nature of McMurphy conflicts with the tyrannical style of Ms. Ratched. in his mission of setting the other patients free. The main one being Chief Bromden, the narrator. Because of McMurphy the Chief gains his size and confidence and he can face reality without retreating into his own imagination. Also, almost all of the other patients leave the hospital because they no longer need someone to follow. They have learned from McMurphy to live on their own and have rejected the brainwashing of the mental institution.
